  1. yes if you have to transfer anywhere along your trip the airlines move your luggage for you, after you check it in until you check it out they deal with it.

  2. The correct answer is "it depends on the airlines".

If you are connecting to the same airline, then your bags will be transferred. If you are connecting to a different airline and they have an interline baggage agreement, then your bags will be transferred. If you are connecting to a different airline and the carriers do not have a baggage agreement, then your bags will NOT be transferred.

Most US airlines have baggage agreements, so this is generally not a problem. However, there are a few exceptions. Fro example, if you are transferring from Southwest to another airline, then your bags won't be transferred. Southwest does not transfer bags between other airlines.

Call your originating airline if you're uncertain.

  3. If you take the same airline copmpany, normally airlines do transfer your luggage to the next  one, but to be sure, you have to ask when you check in.

  4. yes airline trasnfer you luggage.

  5. A connection or a stopover???    If you are traveling just domestically 4 hrs or move between flights is considered a stopover...if this is the case then no they do not transfer your luggage.  If you mean a connection (less than 4 hrs between flights) then yes they do transfer your luggage.  If you are traveling on more than one airline then show the agent at your originating point and they will transfer it to the other airline to your finally destination as long as they have a baggage agreement.

  6. In my experiance airlines do their own thing according to how they feel on the day.  I travelled from London Heathrow to Auckland in New Zealand via L.A.  When my bags went off in London I was assured I wouldn't see them again until the flight was over in Auckland.  So in LA I had to go miles to a place where heaps of bags were stacked up and to identify mine.  Then I could make my way to the right desk for my transfer.  This operation took ages and miles of walking  ..................
