  1. Yes in the U.K. they do.

  2. When I travel with my kids (4 years and 2 years), the airline always tells me to have a copy of their birth certificates with me.

I have photocopies of each of their birth certificates that I keep in my purse, but no one has ever asked to see them.

Depending on how old you are/look, they may ask for ID.  I think having a copy of your birth certificate would be a good idea.  You'd hate for them to not let you on the plane.

If your parents are opposed to you bringing the actual birth certificate, ask if they are ok with you bringing a copy of your birth certificate.

  3. I would suggest you bring a form of picture ID. A school ID is acceptable, but a state issued ID is muuuuch better, they are issued at your local secretary of state's office. But if you are about to travel soon, I would photocopy your birth certificate, keep that somewhere safe, and your old school ID, you should be fine.

    Enjoy your trip!

  4. I just traveled with my two children, ages 9 and 11, on four different domestic U.S. flights. My husband and I had to show IDs, but my children were simply asked what their names were. I asked an airline (Delta) employee about this, and she said that no IDs for minors are required until age 16 - at which point they may show a drivers license or state-issued ID card.

  5. Your best and safest bet would be to go to your local DMV (department of Motor Vehicles)and get an ID card.  You dont have to have a drivers license to get one, just some valid identification papers - social security card, birth certificate.  The State Issued ID card will look just like a drivers license, but will say for Identification purposes only.  I have a hard time believing that TSA agents actually would except school Id's as proper verification, but Ive never had to use one, so I wouldn't know.

Honestly just get up first thing tomorrow and go to the DMV and get the ID card.  There good for several years, so until you get your actual drivers license, this will be just as effective.  Good luck!!
