  1. actually the algae eater is just doing his job(eating algae) the parents and tank mates are just having tiny snacks of their own children! So to prevent this from happening buy a breeding net to keep the fry in and the best part water just flow through and it keeps the adults out

  2. I have a feeling you have full guppy adults!! If the fry do not have plenty of breeding grass and plants to hide in from the adults, they will be gone in a day or two. Your algae eater may have eaten one or two by mistake but, I`m sure your adults got them. Try getting a small 5-10 gallon tank to put the pregnant female in ( with breeding grass in there, of course) right before she is going to drop her fry. That way you are able to save most of the fry.

  3. Your guppies themselves have a bigger chance of eating their own fry than the algae eater. Unless it is at night and the guppies are sleeping, the algae eater really won't have a chance to devour many fry.

If you want to raise the fry, try finding them next time and separating them. But after a few generations, I find that my guppies don't even really care about their fry anymore and they just leave them alone
