Do all 2005 Ford Rangers have Flex Fuel engines in them?

I have a 2004 Ford Ranger XLT with a 3.0 V6 and I'm pretty sure it doesn't have a flex fuel engine. I'm currently trying to sell the Ranger I have now because I can't afford to pay $3.69 a gallon for gas anymore. Before I started buying Rangers in 2001, all I drove was F-150s and I had no problem keeping gas in them. Now I can't even keep gas in a little Ford Ranger.

I'm either going to buy a Ranger with a flex fuel engine or get a Ford Escape Hybrid.

  1. Ask your local Ford dealer.

Some cars can run E85 and others cannot. Even cars of the same make, model, and year. The dealer should be able to tell you based on the VIN.

There are some internet sites that list cars and give VIN for the models that may or may not be E85 compatible.

  2. 1 you need to live somewhere there is "flex" fuel...2,,,you will lose 10/15 % of ur milage using alc/gas.....

  3. keep the truck, I have an 01 with a 3.0 NON flex, i filled it up with ethanol a few times, but then it leaned out too much and check engine came on. gas mileage didnt suffer much only lost about 2 mpg. what does work for me is half and half regular and e85 saves a few bucks at the pump, better mpg and power, cleaner fuel system. Another thing yu can do, that i plan on doing later is getting an E85 converter for you ranger they are like $200-$400 bucks tops and your fuel lines are new enought to handle the alcohol content.
