  1. The answer is yes all the connector plugs are a standard format and size, and no not all PSU's have the same plugs. That is to say all have the standard Molex connectors for your CD drives and Hard Drives and the smaller ones for the Floppy Disc drive. What some have that others don't is direct connections for SATA drives, some SATA drives will come with a molex converter to enable the Molex connection to plug into your SATA drive. All new ATX PSU's will have the standard 20 pin mainboard connector plus an extra 4 that slides off the main block if you dont need it. What you need is 450w or greater, but the 305w is adequate for the job unless you have added more hardware.

What some branded machines have is OEM PSU's, these are non standard size or standard size with the s***w holes in the wrong places for a "normal" case. The E520 looks like it is a standard size and most of the usual Dell machines have standard fittings unlike many of the much older ones (10 + years).

  2. No, they don't all have the same number of connectors, but any ATX PSU will fit, just ensure it has the correct power connectors for your drives. Your computer by default only needs one 24 - pin power connector, one SATA power connector, and one 4 pin molex power connector.
