Special Education usually refers to students with special educational needs (SEN).

Specialist schools are those that cover the normal range of subjects but put emphasis on a section of subjects.  So some schools can specialise in languages, others in maths or Business - quite a few in the performing arts such as http://www.aes-tring.com/

then again there are very elite schools, such as teh Royal Ballet School in London which in some ways takes this to extremes.  All 'normal' schooling is done in half the day and the remainder is ballet related.

Some film directors argue that stage schools (many of which are on Saturdays to supplement education at a normal school) remove some of teh freshness of child actors and actresses.  Certainly a lot of the children (apart from one or two starring roles) in the Harry Potter films were taken from normal state schools in Buckinghamshire rather than stage / performing arts schools.  I think I taught about 8 of them in total.  Whilst they were filming, they had access to tutors on set and tried to fit in their schoolwork.  We (their teachers) sent work for them to complete with help from the on set tutors.  Sometimes the tutors had no experience in some of our subjects, and when the students returned they had to catch up.  Sometimes the students had very small amounts of time in which to do some schoolwork in between the filming.  However, the filming time was often over fixed periods of time that seemed to be about 3 months long;or sometimes the students could come back to school for a couple of weeks.

Not all the time.

Some of them may get tutored on set while they are filming but when they are not filming they go back to their own school.

It depends on the individual child and the family's wishes.
