Do all actors hang out together?

I don't usually make friends with people who I work with on set or in plays.

They usually end up being thought of as reliable co workers, but that's it.

I gravitate towards people who I have similar personality traits outside of acting more often.

I love improv and I get along better with people who do that than just acting.

Is this normal for an actor?

Yes, it's normal.

Some actors who hang out together do it because theater people are mostly who they know, and have the time to be around; also because they've discovered they do have similar interests and personalities.

Many actors have very fulfilling lives and friendships away from the theater--it depends on the person.

I agree that folks who work in improv, just because they're creating together on a regular basis as a team, get along very well together.

"Normal" is a relative term. Actors are, after all, people who get their thrills from having people look at them and bang their hands together!
