Question:

Do all ap scores have to be reported on college aps?

hey so i know that ap scores have no effect on college admissions and that they're sent in after one's admitted

but i also know alot of people just write their ap scores on their resumes/applications for quick reference and whatnot

i've done fairly well on most of my ap exams through highschool.

the only 2 exams i'm worried about is

ap world history - 2 (first ap exam freshman year...and did not study at all)

and ap euro - 3 (again, i performed pretty poorly in the class out of laziness)

i don't plan on sending the ^ scores to receive credit...so i was wondering

1. is one required to put their ap scores on their resume/college app?

2. if yes, does one have to put ALL of the scores theyve gotten? or can they just put the ones they want to?

3. is my ap world history score going to lessen my chances of admissions? is it worth it to expunge the score?

if anyone could help me with my questions since i'm really confused, i'd really appreciate it :)

  1. No...you can choose to just write down the ones you want to, but also colleges can't really use this in the admissions process w/o an official report sent to them. So, I'd write all good scores except those two above and don't even worry about it until you know which college you're going to and then send the full report to that one college.

  2. Short answer: no you don't have to write the scores that you don't want to be shown on your application. If fact, writing any down at all is entirely optional.

    HOWEVER,

There's not much point in just writing down scores on the application without requesting for an official grade report to be sent by Collegeboard to the college you're applying to. If you're sending a grade report from Collegeboard, ALL GRADES that you HAVE NOT WITHELD OR CANCELLED *WILL* be reported.

As for whether a 2 or 3 would hurt your application, I'd say that the answer is a qualified 'no'. Why the qualification? Because an elite college might notice and ask questions about whether you're truly a good student, or whether you simply don't test well. Either possibility doesn't bode too well for you. If you want to play it safe, cancel the World History grade. If you're not applying to an Ivy or MIT or Stanford then just leave it alone.

Hope you'll be able to come to a good decision.
