  1. Yes all Bluray players are backward compatible so they will play regular DVD's and if you have it hooked up via HDMI all the bluray players will "upconvert" the regular DVD's to "simulated HD" which means regular DVD's will never look as good as Bluray, but upconverted will look better than using a standard DVD player.

  3. yes THEY ALL PLAY not only blu-ray discs but DVD's CD's and such. they even upscale your older DVD's to HD!!

    isn't it great! =]

    however teh best blu-ray player in the market today is the PS3 literallity. it is the cheapest $399 casn update its software and is the ultimate game console for one price =]

    anyway yes they do play DVD's and upscale it to HD. do not listen to guy how wrote the first answer he doesn't know what he is talking about....lol
