I read that Brass faucets contain lead solder. Is this true? Is it in mine? Am I ingesting lead everytime I make use of this faucet?

  1. Most brass does not contain lead.  In a modern faucet, there's little or no need to have any lead or solder in the water path.  There could be some attaching decorative or structural components.  But if you're at all concerned, let the water run for half a second before using some for drinking or cooking.  It takes a long time to accumulate a harmful amount of lead, even from lead pipes.

  2. As you've read, Brass faucets contain lead solder, right? It is based on what you've read about that. But in my own opinion, Brass faucets are not in mine, but there's chemical lead that mixes to the faucet.

As for me, it depends on how water is fast to rinse in the Brass faucet's pathway. So if it is fast, there's more lead that'll mix to water nd if you drink the water, you'll ingest lead.

  3. There's no lead in modern plumbing.  Even the solder used to connect copper pipes is lead-free.

  4. All faucets made after 1998 must be listed to NSF61 section 9.  This requires that faucets are certified to leach less than 11 parts per billion.  It also tests for over 200 other "contaminants".  Faucets in the U.S. are the safest of any in the world
