  1. No they do not. Some cars do and some dont. Most US cars did up untill like the mid 70's but even there not all cars had a separte bell housing.

  2. No, the bell housing holds the clutch plates & is attached to the rear of the engine block. In a 4x4 drives you may find the bell housing seperated from the transmission. The front & rear end of the drive train linked by propeller shafts, what you probably see would be like: engine/bell housing > prop shaft > transmission > prop shaft to front-wheel drive > another prop shaft to rear-wheel drive. Newer engine designs have changed all that, if you are working on one now, it's great to explore around. Example, a side-mounted engine with 4x4 drive would have only two prop shafts, one prop shaft for the front-wheel drive & one prop shaft for the rear-wheel drive.

  3. No your automatric transmission are all one piece , but the standard transmission all have seprated bell housing from the transmissions,at less i have never seen one with it's own bell housen made together. It's made seprate so you can put the clutch & pressure plate a long with the fly wheel back together .At less that the way it is on rear wheel drive cars. On your front wheel drive cars the bell housen is made together,

  4. No.

  5. stick shift have have seprate housing but no automatics
