Okay, I am 16 and right now I am on my first year of a foreign language, but I am in a class of 28 freshman, and me 1 sophmore and I am going to switch it because the kids are ******* lame as h**l.

So, are there colleges which don't require a foreign language? I am looking either dropping out of highschool and doing my own plan, being a scientist or working on video games..so I am really just considering dropping out and going off on my own thing but I don't want to have to if I don't have to get this g*y *** language

  1. Wilmington College in Wilmington, OH doesn't. They recommend a language, but don't require it.

Most do. Every high school I've ever heard of requires it to graduate, so even if you can get through college without it, you still need to take it if your high school requires it.

  2. The majority do, but not necessarily for all majors. For example, some schools don't require the language for engineering or science majors, so you could be in luck there. But most do.

You can also look into what your options really are regarding foreign language. Some colleges will allow computer science students to take high level programming languages, and have them count as foreign language (although this is rare.) Other colleges will accept American Sign Language as a foreign language.

So if you want the broadest options for colleges, you need at least two years of the same foreign language, in high school. And some colleges want more than that. And if your plan is to become a scientist or develop video games, a college degree - and a good one - is usually required to get jobs in those fields.

And anyway, who cares if the kids in your class are ******* lame? You don't have to be friends with them. You just have to pass the d**n class.

  3. Most competitive schools do require a foreign language.  You should not drop out of school, as your options will be quite limited, especially if you want to be a scientist.  If you do very well in your computer and science courses (and up to calculus in math), then the language is not as necessary unless the school requires it.
