  1. NO!!!! I have dyslexia and so do two of my three daughters none of us has any problem with speech and never have.  My daughter's and I have had problems with reading and writing but not speech. That's not something that's ever come up when I've had to have have them evaluated for LS's.

  2. Do they yes!

  3. Absolutely not, my own son is dyslexic and his verbal skills were always excellent.

It was one of the things which made the problems he was having with reading and writing more obvious.  He was more articulate with a much larger vocabulary than his schoolmates even though he could hardly read and write at the time.

  4. As Dyslexia is complex and affects each person is differently, causing difficulties in writing & motor skills, maths & time management, memory & cognition, visual, reading and spelling problems, hearing and speech problems. Some people will have a mix of all, either mild or severe. Others may have major problems with a few areas.

Both my daughter and I are dyslexic, which affects us a little differently. My daughter learnt to read very well early, but her hand writing is not to good, I on the other hand I could not read until about 14, but strangely I could write and spell fairly well. Both of us are hopeless at maths, which is called dyscalculia, some times we have difficulty in finding the correct words, especially when nervous or under pressure.

The links below are very good with information on dyslexia, and worth the time to read, to get a better understanding of Dyslexia.

  5. No they do not.  My uncle and my bf are both dyslexic.  Neither have any speech difficulties.
