Do all electronics age and die?

Like game systems, or something else like computer, PS3 and Xbox 360, iPod, iPod touch and iPhone, camera... if you had them for long time do they like, brake even though do didnt drop it or damage them? Becuase my friend said Ps3 dont age and my computer is slow and i had it for about 3 years and running a bit slow and my friend said it was becuase of the games i downloaded and i only have 41.1 GB of free space and i only used 33.4 GB of space. Does all eletronics ages and dies?

  1. Heat cycling is the main cause. Components expand and contract as circuit boards heat up and cool down, eventually solder joints develop minute cracks and the unit dies.


  2. Through use, yes.  If you leave it in it's package and don't touch it for 50 years, it will probably still work then, but if you use it it will wear down (PS3s included).  Your computer is probably going slower for a different reason, but the answer to your question is yes, even if you don't "break" and electronic, it will eventually stop working.
