I have stayed in numerous AIs in the area and I believe every one of them had ice cream.  I personally think the helado (ice cream) here is richer and tastier than it is in the states.  Though chocolate is good, if you can try some of the local coconut, mango, or lime (limon) flavors, give them a shot.  The first AI I stayed at, I fell in love with the lime ice cream with chocolate sprinkles.  Even the vanilla was better than I was used to in the US.  It's all good!

Probably depends on the hotel and number of eating options.  I think the dairy products taste a little different than US but am not a big ice cream person.  If you know where you are staying you can e-mail or call and usually get answers for almost anything, if using a travel agent have them find out.  I have actually gotten faxed menus for the week we would be somewhere, if they don't cooperate, is it a place you want to stay if they don't care about guest service in every way?
