I have a little girl that wants to send a letter to her grandmother in Mexico... but she swears that there is no street address... she believes that we can just put the woman's name... the city and the country... she insists that it is like a village and they will know where to deliver it... I am unsure... does anyone know... she said the place is Santiago, Mexico... thank you

  1. Please be more specific.

Here in Mexico we have more than 100 cities with the name of Santiago.  Please tell me the name of the State and I will let you know how to do it.

All of the big cities have street number, street name and zip code.  Little towns like a Rancho with less than 100 people DO not need address,

but you will need the name of the State as follows as an example:

    Maria Gonzalez Perez

    Domicilio conocido

    Santiago

    Estado de Nayarit

    Mexico

Domicilio conocido means "well known address", and that means that everybody in the little town knows the address where the lady lives.

  2. Yes,  towns and cities have street addresses.  I suppose there are some super tiny places where a street address is not needed.    Santiago, Nuevo Leon  has a population of about 28,000.  Sounds like you must be her teacher.  Can you speak to the parents about the address?  I live in Mexico, in a much smaller village, and  every house has an address here.   Of course, it could be a different Santiago.  Hope the parents can help.

  3. P .O BOX  Numbers and lot numbers in the smaller towns and rural areas.

She may be correct but I dont think so

As well  as some places they go and register their name at a post office so they know where she is.

Almost everyone has some sort of service ie Hydro and water.
