Do all you Barbaro fans out there know about the upcoming movie this week on HBO?

This is not so much an answerable question as it is a reminder to those of you who are or were huge fans of Barbaro. HBO is running a 2 hour movie this coming Wednesday, June 6, at either 8 or 9 pm EDT. ( Check your local listings for the start time.) Those of you who don't have access to cable might want to ask someone to tape the movie for you. I have seen ads for the movie in some of the magazines I get, and because HBO is a cable channel, the likelyhood that the movie will run on time is very high. Just a heads up for everyone who loved Barbaro- and there are a lot of you out there !!!

I dont get what makes Barbaro so special...during the last meet at Bay Meadows in the SF area a 4 month meet concluded with 24 horses had to be put down, hundreds go down in a year...how about the owners, trainers, jocks and people on the backside of the tracks all over the nation that thought those horses were special or had an attachment to them...Barbaro just got lots of media coverage, when he clearly should not have been made to suffer where the owners knew he had little chance of surviving, but kept him alive hoping to be able to breed their 'media miracle' horse...

I agree with doing it right. I am tired of all this c**p about Barbaro. I have seen many champions break down and have to be put down over the years, Ruffian, Go For Wand, and Izvestia to name a few. I think the only reason people cry for Barbaro is because his greedy owners made a futile attempt to keep him alive for breeding. 99 % of the horses with a similar injury would have been put down long before he had to suffer what he went through. But it is amazing what grief some people will put an animal through for greed. As far as I know there is supposed to be a movie on this week about Ruffian. I would much rather watch that as she was known to be a fighter, who even fought the anaesthetic to put her to sleep to try and save her life, therefore she was put down. What about Charismatic who was a 100 yards from a triple crown when he broke down.
