Do ambulances run on diesel fuel?

It depends what platform they were built on. They are usually built on something like a Ford Econoline platform which can be had with a diesel engine. Whether or not most of them have diesels I can't say.

Yes they do, because it is optimal for the truck's idling, and it is also good for hauling the weight of the contents inside. There has been talk of them switching over to hybrid, but I doubt it will happen because of the fuctions needed for the trucks to do...

Most of the ambulances I have seen do run on diesel fuel.
