Do american staffordshires jaws lock like pit bulls?

I was wondering, do american staffordshire terriers jaws lock like a pit bulls jaws do? I need to know as soon as possible! thank you!

Everyones right about locking jaws, it's just a myth that their jaws lock up. A Staff or a Pitt does have a very strong jaw from it's breading because they were created to help butchers kill bulls by grabbing them on the nose. But a responsible owner knows that they're dog needs to be socialized and subervised so that biting should never be an issue. Staffordshires are awsome dogs.

both dogs have the same jaw structure as any other breed of dog.. thats just one of the stupid myths that people have started about these wonderful breed of dogs.. there both amazing breeds, just make sure you go to a reputable breeder or adopt!! dont support back yard breeders.

No breed of dog can lock its jaw. Its a myth and I one I wish would die.

why do you need to know?

If you need to know so bad why don't you go to one of the websites that has information on here instead of coming to yahoo answers. There are a lot of people on here that don't know what they are talking about and could give you completely bogus answers and you would never know it.

the breed characteristics are very similar to apbt. They are great dogs when they have a decent owner.

*NO* PIT BULLS, OR ANY OTHER BREED, "LOCK" JAWS.

It is a MYTH the media made up to make people even MORE scared of these wonderful dogs. Both pit bulls and Am. Staffs are great dogs, depending on the breeder they are from.

But reputable breeder or puppy mill, they DON'T lock jaws!

NO!!!!

Pit Bulls have locking jaws.  NO!  The pit bulls jaws are the same as any other breed of dog!  Any Veterinarian can verify this is simply a myth.  Pit Bulls have been bred to not let go, however, their  jaws are not locked.
