Do americans hang their heads in shame on their independence day?

Seeing that they invaded a few other countries in recent years.....and haven't made those countries any more independent or democratic or free in the process?

it is not about thier independence, it is about our independence! if the other countries that we try to help out can't get it together that is not our fault, however i do seem to remember a little country now called kosovo, i think that was a pretty good success, considering i was a part of that campaign. so no we hold our heads high and remember that freedom is not free, you have to be willing to fight for what you want, it depends on how bad you want it though.

I am English and a true Brit but if I was an American, I can not see a reason to hang my head in shame for any reason, the Americans have kept the World safe since World war 2 because they controlled the Russians by their nuclear power and in fact, if it was not for the Americans, we would not have won WW2, the fight against Muslim terrorism would not exist if America were not involved, who knows what would be happening now if Bin Laden and all of his evil followers were still allowed a free hand. be proud all of you Americans out there, you deserve to be proud and ignore the tosser that had the audacity to ask this stupid question.

Lets see Afghan women don't have to wear burkas if they ever go out in public, and Iraqis don't have to worry that Uday and Qusay's rape gangs are going to break into their houses, rape the women in front of the men before killing them all. Whether I agree or disagree with some of the policies of this administration, they have nothing to do with celebrating Independence Day.  It's a day to be proud of being an American, and I am.  Why, exactly, should I hang my head over actions by an administration I've never agreed with?
