  7. yes you do. is another country. i just went to mexico and yes i needed  a passport

  8. What John says is almost entirely accurate - you need a passport to enter Mexico by air and as well to re-enter your country by air. If you enter Mexico by land, you won't have any trouble; however, on your way back, to re-enter the US, you ARE now required to show a passport - not an ID or birth certificate, but a valid American passport. This law was implemented only a couple of weeks ago, but trust me, it IS now working and you should expect to be asked for your passport if you wish to re-enter your country.

  9. Yes, or travel visa.

  10. They have not "implemented" the passport rule yet for land and sea travel.

    No, you will NOT need a passport to travel into Mexico by land or sea.  You will NOT need one to enter the United States by land or sea.  A driver's license and a birth certificate will do.

    If you are flying, yes, you will need a passport.

    AIR TRAVEL

    Implemented on January 23, 2007, ALL PERSONS traveling by air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and the Caribbean region are required to present a passport or other valid travel document to enter or re-enter the United States.

    LAND AND SEA TRAVEL

    The following summarizes information available on the Department of Homeland Security’s website.

    * JANUARY 31, 2008

    U.S. and Canadian citizens will need to present either a WHTI-compliant document, or a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, plus proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate. DHS also proposes to begin alternative procedures for U.S. and Canadian children at that time.
