  1. Eleves can be done parallel or turned out. They are normally only done parallel for stretching en pointe purposes, facing a barre. If you are facing the side, doing eleves (or releves for that matter) your feet should be turned out.

  2. When doing an eleve you can do them with your feet parallel or with your feet turned out. Often, they are done in parallel when strengthening the ankles for pointe. They are also included intermittently in barre exercises for the same strengthening purpose except in the turned out position. If you're practicing on a chair, try them parallel. Save the turned out position for releves.

(Note: Eleve brings you to demi-pointe/pointe with a straight leg. Releve brings you to demi-pointe/pointe from a plie.)

    Hope I helped!

    Good Luck!

  3. In depends on what the coreography is, or whatever the teacher says, if you're in class. But if you're doing a turned out eleve, you don't have to turn you're feet out sraight to the side! Just go to your natural turnout. If you don't know what your natural turnout is, stand in parralel then quickley turn your feet out and let them go wherever they go, don't squirm around. That's your natural turnout!
