Do ancient tribes living in the jungle?

i think you'll find that people are leaving these places in droves.  It's called urban drift.  Lots of push-pull factors, most of them economic.  And if you visited one of these places, you find them largely wearing western clothes, listening to music, running generators, etc.

The highlands of papua new guinea were only 'discovered' a few decades ago, and they found a population of hundreds of thousands of people, living in complex society, who had never seen a white face and were extremely successful.

re: airplanes, there is a good fijian song about the first sightings of airplanes, i believe they thought they were giant birds, and why wouldn't they?

Not necessarily, they can be living in cities too as for example the Aborigines in Australia and New Zealand!

Actually there are differences in the intelligence of different peoples.  The range may be the same but the average level varies.  The more primitive people usually average lower. Actually  Chinese, Koreans and Japanese have the highest average intelligence.

Intelligence and ignorance are different. It  is possible to have an ignorant genius.  The jungle tribes have lots of ignorance and there are many on the political Left who would keep them that way to "protect their culture", which shows the lack of intelligence of the political Left.

Most tribes have had some kind of contact with the modern world and are not totally ignorant.

Despite living in the jungle they are aware of other societies ouside of their own communities. Many tribes are usually the focus of research and thus come into contact with people from westernised countries, so no I don't think they think that planes are UFO's. I also don't think they are any less intelligence than people from westernised countries. Just because they live a life that may appear ancient to us does not make them any less intelligence. They have a different way of life though and thus possess different skills to westernised people in order to survive.

In saying that though it is an interesting question you ask. I think it would be fascinating to live in a tribal community for some time to experience their way of life and to get an insight into what they think about life outside of their tribes.

Firstly, the spelling and punctuation in this question is atrocious; you're certainly not making a good point for intelligence in the "modern world".

Secondly, there are no "ancient" tribes around today; the big tip-off there would be "ancient", which means very, very old.

Finally, the fact that there are societies which have gone on hundreds of thousands of years with relatively little technological change (which is not accurate, as 1. all cultures change over time and 2. every contemporary society today is in some contact with the "developed" world) is not indicative of a lack of intelligence or curiosity. Change is not always a good thing. Think of it this way: human beings lived over 100,000 years hunting and gathering quite successfully; and in the 7,000 years we've been farming, and especially in the less than 200 years we've been heavily industrial, we've managed to compromise the earth's very ability to sustain us and every other species on this planet. How's that for a track record, eh? Which group is more intelligent?

No, they are not less intelligent. There are several reasons for these tribes not appearing as "advanced" (although this is not the correct term, really). Isolation, harsh living environments, lack of resources are some of the reasons. There are several books and articles you could read to educate yourself on this subject. It's far to broad to do it any justice here.

It would be wrong to even imagine that ancient tribes around the world have limited or lower intelligence or anything of that sort.

Let's not forget that it was ancient tribes that could correctly predict the distance between the Earth and the Moon using whatever primitive equipment they had several centuries ago. Also, it was ancient tribes living in jungles that found cures for sicknesses- something for which modern day and advanced medical companies have spent millions of dollars on research and development. The smoke signals used by Red Indians were one of the basis on which modern communications is based.

The fact that these tribes continue to exist in jungles and not venture into the modern world, despite having resources to do so, is proof ample enough that they are satisfied with their simple life- unlike us who have become more materialistic, greedy and bags of illnesses- small or large.

It would also be wrong to call them as people of lower intelligence because for them, life in the jungle is a real battle for survival- with snakes, animals, insects and other hazards present almost round-the-clock. We with the so called higher intelligence would not last in such jungles for more than a few hours, at best and that too with all sorts of weapons, navigational aids, food packs and whatever else it takes.

Think of planes as UFOs...we've all heard of people mistaking an earthly phenomenon to be something extraterrestrial.

And, carvings in ancient caves have shown that such tribes had a fair sense of technology- or else, how can one explain  those carvings of human-like creatures wearing masks and carrying equipment like back-packs, drawn several thousand years ago?

No they do not think that. One of my school buddies was a geologist and went to amazon basin and married a girl form one of those tribes. She got educated here and has a masters in anthropology. She is a very smart lady yet she misses the lifestyle that will always be home to her. They go back for extended stays every couple of years and the kids are smart as whips but have a really different outlook at life.

It generally takes a climate change or major environmental change to cause a population of any creature to leave there area. If there are tribes that have had no contact with modern civilization, it is because they've had no reason to explore, not because they have no intelligence.

no they are far more evovled than western man and do not need to explore as they can do this by astral project. refer to rain forest indians in brazil who work as guides for explorers going deep into the un chartered jungle where no one has ever been.

HOOOO-BOY, have you got it nailed down right. All anthropologists know about the Cargo Cult. During World War 2 a plane crashed or landed full of food and other items. The natives of a tribe in New Guinea salvaged all the goods in the plane, and for years afterwards prayed to the gods to make another airplane come, even building little model planes as offerings to the gods. Read about it in different books.

You haven't been into the jungle and think planes are ufo's yourself and the world is flat or have lower intelligence.But to answer your question there are tribes living and they are having a very difficult time,mostly because they are at war with those chopping the whole thing down and diggers for minerals shooting wildlife and inhabitants all the same.It is a very beautiful but difficult environment to survive in and those who have been doing it are being seen as savages instead of masters of the forest.If you can spend some time with them you are really blessed.
