Do animals get and spread illness passed by s*x like A.I.D.S?

If they do, do farmers and people who work with them make them wear condoms or something, or don't animals get those types of illnesses?

Yes.  The ancestral virus of AIDS -which isn't necessarily a sexually transmitted disease- was one which affected monkeys in central Africa.  It evolved across to humans in the late 1940s, if my memory serves me correctly.

It might also be interesting to know that most animals are less at risk from sexually transmitted diseases.  That's because they generally have much less s*x than humans do.  That doesn't apply for our nearest relatives, the two species of chimp.

Yes. Many animals have their own specific sexually transmitted diseases, including their own versions of HIV - for example, SIV (simian immuno-deficiency virus) in monkeys and FIV (feline immuno-deficiency virus) in cats. Many lions in the wild are infected with FIV, but it doesn't necessarily kill them - they can live to a ripe old age whilst carrying the virus.

As to farmers putting condoms on the animals - don't be absurd. The purpose of farmers allowing animals to mate is to produce offspring, so putting condoms on them would defeat the whole object. Besides, you want to try putting a condom on a randy bull? If someone does not wish to breed from their animal, whether it's a pet, farm animal or zoo animal, it will either be neutered or fitted with a contraceptive implant.

They can get FIV the cat version of HIV.  An outdoor cat that we had had it and the vet told us we should put her and the kittens she had that had it to sleep to keep them from affecting other cats since they lived outdoors.  One of the kittens was FIV free, so we got to keep her.

Not only HIV virus which is known to be in monkeys, but there are many venereal diseases spread by sexual inter course like brucellosis,vibriofaetus vaginalis, trichomoniaisis....
