  1. My friend has a dog and she has periods once a year so I guess everybody is right...all female mammals do.

  2. I assume all female mammals do. It's called being in heat

  3. My friends dog has periods, why, I don't know.

  4. No. Some people are obviously confused about the bleeding sometimes seen in animals such as cats and dogs. These animals bleed when they are in heat - that is, when they are ready to conceive. This is not what a period is in humans - it's the shedding of the lining of the womb, after the woman has been in heat and not conceived. If animals do not conceive when they come into heat, they simply reabsorb the lining of the womb into the body.

  5. no they dont =)

  6. No, only Primate group of Mammals have periods. The primates include chiefly Monkeys, Apes and Man.

  7. Yes they do.  Also semicolons, commas, and question marks.

  8. Yes, my dog has. I think all female mammals have.

  9. Yes...Nearly all mamals have a menstrual cycle.

  10. All mammals have the potential to have a menstrual cycle which is the sloughing off of the uteris that has prepared itself for the implantation of a zygote.  If the zygote is not implanted, then the uteris must start again.

Since animals that lay eggs don't have a uterus, they don't have a menstrual cycle.

Some mammals have the potential to get a menstrual cycle but often don't.  The hormonal fluctuation of the menstrual cycle is so severe, it's "easier" to get pregnant than to go through the cycle.  Most notably the ferret is like this, but many other animals follow this pattern.  Basicly in this case, they don't menstruate because they are continually pregnant.

Being in heat or sexually receptive and ready to be impregnated is not menstruating, it's technically it's opposite.  During menstruation, your likelyhood or getting pregnant is almost non-existant (but not impossible)

  11. If they can breed then they can bleed.

    sounds horrible, I know.

    sorry

  12. no non of them have it

  13. Only some other primates get periods, but no other animals do.

When dogs are on heat, they bleed, but that is not a period. When they are on heat actually corresponds to the time women ovulate, which is totally different to a period.

When animals go through a heat cycle and don't become pregnant, the lining of the uterus is absorbed back into their system, rather than being expelled as a period.
