my birdie was depressed and going in his cage and sleeping alot and wanted to be alone the week he died, but it wasnt because of old age, it was because he got hurt.

i heard animals are not gready and when they know their going to die, they dont like care, they want to die when they know they are going to.

is this true?

do you think my bird knew he was going to die?

becuase he has NEVER acted like this before

  1. yes they do, ever wonder why your dog is at the door to greet you eventhough you may not have rung the bell? They sense all things not just bad. they do know if they are going to die, they usually sit on the bottom of the cage and dont do anything. Its kinda like humans if someone knows they have cancer and are terribly ill it doesnt take a rocket scientist to tell them they are gonna die. You can usally determine that urself.

  2. animals have senses like that. They know when bad weather is coming or an earthquake is coming. They know when they are going to die because they act distant.

All humans have is if we think we are going to die our lives flash like a comic strip in our brains

  3. I'm not sure about birds, but I know cats and dogs usually go off alone to a quiet place to die. It seems to be instinct.

Right before my cat died, she went and hid in the corner of a bedroom.

I don't know exactly why they do this. Perhaps its so the other animals aren't slowed down and killed by a predator because they're with you.

If you were a animal who had your adult offspring living with you, going off alone to die might save them from being killed while they stayed around you.

I don't think animals are afraid of death though. They're animals and they don't spend their lives wondering what's going to happen after death. They feel sick, and instinct tells them to go somewhere where they can be alone, and they die.
