My brother thinks it does, I think hes completely wrong. The amount of points on the antlers has to do with their diet.

Whose right, me or my brother

  1. your right

  2. Deer typically only grow a certain number of points per year, so it can be a rough guide. However, it's rough, as a yearling can have spikes, or be a small six point. Spread of the rack past the ears will tell more. Number of points can be controlled by genetics as well as diet.

Conservation agents typically use teeth as a better indicator, and narrrow it down more closely due to the number and wear pattern. Still, unless the actual year is known, it's an educated guess.

  3. nope their teeth do

  4. No, No, no, the age of a Deer is determined by its teeth not its antlers.*

  5. charcoal rules said it best.

  6. No it doesn't!*

  7. Nothing to do with age.

They shed every winter and grow new.

It is based on food and genetics.

    Happy hunting.

  8. Your right, your brother is wrong. The growth of the antlers is established in the spring. The more minerals and neutriants in the food the better the antlers.

  9. well, antlers can tell a bit about a deer but not much, so id say you're right, not your dumb son of a ***** brother.
