Do ants barter with other colonies?

I've been watching the ant piles throughout my yard and I've noticed they look an awful lot like the Mayan civilizations. They have a large colony and then small ones surrounding, maybe up to 300 yards out from the main colony. Then it occurred to me that they might barter with neighboring colonies that are also as huge and spread out. I was wondering if they barter or do they just kill each other and take over the area like the Mayans did?

Are you sure that they aren' t fire ants? If so then buy a product to put down with, they will carry the food to the Queen and kill the colony. Hope that answers your question.

about the only bartering done is total take over,only the strongest survives.
