Question:

Do any UK Supermarkets have vegetarian bakeries?

I avoid bakery section unless I know- e.g. Tesco (I think) said in store: 'I'm sorry we do use non-vegetarian products to bake our bread'

And local bakeries are even more likely to use animal fats to grease the tins (right word?)

Is there not many alternatives avaliable?

  1. I haven't found any yet-so I look for packaged bread with the "V" sign on them.

    Sorry

  2. Don't think so. You are right that the animal fat used to grease the tins is the problem. Animal fats greased tins can be used about 3 times before re-coating, vegetable oils burn away with every bake.

Many commerical bakeries now do claim they use all-veggie processes, so i don't know why the in-house bakeries cannot switch.

  3. Cool I didnt know there were vegetarian bakeries, neat.

  4. If animals were not used for there by products there would not be any farm animals other than a few pets and a few in zoo's have you ever considered this? PS even the glue on envelops has animal by products in it. It is not possible, not to come in contact with animal products...Now chill out have a nice bacon sandwich, every thing is going to be OK.

  5. All M&S instore bakery products are marked with a V for vegetarian.
