Do guys believe in true love? What is your definition of true love? Do you think stories of Princes and Princesses make women have unrealistic expectations? I want to hear your side of the story!

  1. I maintained a long-distance relationship with my wife both before and after we were married for several years.  We met over the internet and had a communication-only relationship until I had budgeted enough money to go to Indonesia to actually meet her.  Once I met her, it was if I had known her all my life; confusing to say the least.  I am a big skeptic when it comes to true love or anything "fairy taleish" like that but, I do maintain faith in myself.

After we first met, I maintained communication with her afterwords and returned to Indonesia to marry her, two years later.  My parents thought that I was insane but, they came with me for the wedding and it turns out they liked her to.  She was instantly accepted into the family as the daughter in law that they never imagined.

After we were married, we still had to wait another year before we could be together as we had to deal with the immigration paperwork right after.  To this day we have been married for 4 years.

I do think that women do maintain unrealistic expectations in their men but, what can I expect with Disney images as you grow up and mainstream media when you grow up.  The key is to find a man who has faith in themselves and be supportive of him.  You do get back what you put out however, if you put out an unsupportive attitude, you get that back as well.
