Question:

Do any hands free kits have a function to read out text messages?

I am looking for some sort of device or software which will read out my text messages from my phone whilst driving, as it is illegal to hold a phone whilst driving in the UK and I do not always have a passenger.

I have heard about some SatNav systems which have the text-to-speech function but I cannot really afford one.

My friends all use correct language(under pain of death) so the software involved does not have to be too fancy.

  1. Yes but they are expensive! Search for the: TH Bury CC9060!

    Cost: £150 or $270!

Take a look at this link:

http://www.cellularaccessory.com/cc9060.... for US or http://www.soundsupreme.co.uk/handsfree.... for UK

    Website states:

Text to speech conversion: While paired to certain text messaging cell phone models, this unique car kit will read out your text messages to you. Now you get the textual information you need without even looking at the cell phone’s display.

  2. No, not at this time.

  3. It MUST be a feature on a mobile phone, bluetooth is just a communication interface.

The guy above me provides links for a device that is supposed to text-to-speech text messages but this feature works only with certain mobile phones, presumably, with those, that have that feature enabled.

  4. get a better phone, some phone do have that feature built to them ex. some of the higher end LG phones do. If i want to hear a text message on my phone i just open up the message, and click a button that looks like a mouth with sound coming out of it... it does sound like a robot, and some words do sound funny.. but my phone is 2 years old now.. i am sure the have gotten better now
