Do any health insurance companies pay for a Wii system?

I'm curious because I heard a doctor state that in the next few years they would be prescribing them and insurance would be paying for them to help overweight and stroke patients.

  1. the wii is a game system, why dont doctors prescribe a gym membership instead of encouraging them to play video games

and no, insurance will not pay for a patients video game system, that is the most retarded thing I have ever heard

EDIT: our insurance company went into a $100 million dollar loss this year and they will definately not pay for a game system that has not roll in loosing weight except for moving your arm with a remote in your hand like a weird person. and the wii is again a game system, do you hear me, game system, not an excercise machine.

  2. hahaha! LMAO that is funny.

i doubt you could prescribe a gaming system especially when everyone else is forking out around £300 for one!

either that doctor is smoking weed or the health insurance companies are smoking it!

  3. WHAT!? That makes no sense at all!! That would be an insult to the Wii.

  4. Insurance companies pay for treatments and things by determining whether the treatment/item is medically necessary for treatment. For instance, if you get a CT scan for no reason, your insurance won't cover it and you'll pay for the entire thing. If you are experiencing migraines and you get a CT scan, it's much more likely that insurance will pay for the procedure.

Unless a doctor can prove that the Wii is medically necessary for treatment of the illness/disease/disorder in question, I wouldn't count on it being covered.
