I have your answer. We have tried so many math programs with no results and lots of frustration. Until....another h.s. mom told me she had been through every single math program on the market and nothing worked for her son, and then discovered an interactive math DVD curriculum called Teaching Textbooks.

It has turned our least favorite subject into the most fun!! Yes, fun! And it is totally comprehensive.

Please go go www.teachingtextbooks.com to view samples. I hope this helps someone...it has been life-altering for us.

  1. Teaching Textbooks has worked great for my daughter too.

  2. LOL.

When I saw your question line, before reading the full question, I immediately thought of Teaching Textbooks. I know an increasing number of homeschooling parents who are using it and are loving it. I have yet to meet someone I know personally who has said it didn't work for their family.

  3. Yep, we've had this too.  TT is great, and while it didn't work for my son, Math U See and VideoText did.  I love that there are so many different options for math curricula, to explain math to kids in ways that makes sense to them as individuals.

I'm glad TT worked so well for you!

  4. Even if your child is home schooled the public schools are required to give your child the education s/he needs - so go to the local public school and procure a tutor or have your child sit in class just for math.  I did that for one of my sons and it helped him immensely - don't let your child get behind - it just gets harder.

    Good luck!

  5. Well, my son was not fed up with math, as he loves it and is working 4-5 grade levels ahead.  But we did switch to TT for Algebra I and he loves it!  He does his work independently during the day and then DH goes over it with him in the evenings.  We're going to stick with it for Geometry, Algebra II, and perhaps Pre-Calculus, too.

I should note that TT is *not* DVD-based.  It's CD-rom based.  There's a difference.  You have to watch it on a computer, not a TV.

  6. Or instead of spending money on something try harder to understand math...........lol
