Do any of you think a bridge from New FOundland to Greenland to Europe is likely?

  1. No, I do not think it is likely.

    First of all, it is a very big distance. The spans would be many times the longest span that is possible now.

    Secondly, being a northern route, there will be much ice to count with.

    The ice will damage the bridges, as technology stands now.

    Even when the earth keeps warming, and there will be no more ice on the north pole year round, there will still be ice in winter, each winter.

    Every possible way to avoid danger from ice that is now known will cost so much that any advantage of a road route over a shipping route will be negated.

    And these long stretches of sea can also be rather rough, high seas which will make very strong and high bridges needed.

    I think we can see a route via Russia well before we see a cross Atlantic bridge.

    For that route we would need a road through Alaska and Siberia.

    Both rather unlikely, but technically possible with what we, humans, know now. And one not too long ferry, or maybe even a bridge.
