For a V-8 engine you will need to pull the distributor and oil pump drive gear, then use a hex shaft of the proper dimension, (5/16) measure the oil pump shaft to be sure. After installing the shaft spin the shaft in distributor normal rotation, while slowly turning the engine over by hand, this will allow oil to enter the passages in the crankshaft filling the passages up to the rods, I usually have at least one valve cover off to ensure oil supply at the top end.

The V-10 engine has the oil pump mounted on the front of the engine driven directly but the crankshaft, only primed when assembling the engine,
