  1. perhaps

  2. Yes shotokan is a great style to learn and I studied it briefly for a short time although its very traditional but on the plus side there is an abundance of books,DVDs etc on it as a source of reference whilst training.

It would be my choice if I was to go back to karate as I studied Shukokai no disrespect to shukokai but I found out after 2years that my instructor was only interested in money, and I realise now in hindsight that he was a complete d**k,and old enough to be my father but in my defence I was young and naive enough to respect/trust my elders due to the age difference  at the time.

    Best wishes :)***

  3. i was a blue belt in shotokan, when i moved i no longer took lessons, it is alot of fun and very effective, but i like my swordsmanship more so. lol

  4. Shotokan is a legitimate style and it has a lot of good elements to it.

The challenge is finding a good instructor (or I like to say, "teacher" - it just sounds deeper...).

So, choose the art on the teacher and what you could learn...

  5. Yes!

any martial art can be great, it all depends on quality of teaching though..

if you're really interested in the art, i say you check it out!!

  6. Yes but I prefer my Shotokan Traditional over sport, but it is still ok to learn and fun from what I have seen.

I am just old fashioned and like the traditional aspect rather than sport.  The sport ones are still decent most of them!
