I know that Del Mar used them the last time I was there in 2001. Are they still being used on that track or any others?

  1. A lot of the bigger tracks I've been to have built dorms to house backstretch workers.  They are usually 2 story buildings with say maybe 100 or so little rooms with a window some tracks even have air conditioning for the dorms.  The dorms also include like 8 little public use bathrooms with a toliet, sink, and shower stall with a locking door for privacy.  Most of the dorms even have a small laundry room with 2 coin operated washing machines and 4 coin operated dryers.  Now the smaller tracks you either stay in a tack room or sweat box as you call them.  Now I can't vouche for Del Mar cause I haven't been there but I have been to several big tracks and small tracks.  There are even some smaller tracks that won't even let workers stay in the tack rooms they have to find housing off track.

  2. YES, AND IT'S A SHAME

  3. In my years of the race track no one has forced anyone to live on the back side of the race track.  It is generally a choice or convenience.  Whereas those that live there live for free.
