Do anyone know if I could but an 180/55 tire on rear of a 96 Yamaha YZF 600RH?

I have a 96 Yamaha YZF 600RH and I am trying to find out the largest size tire I can put on this bike. For the front and Back.

  1. To clarify a little, 180 in the tire size refers to the tire width, in millimeters.  The 55 means that the sidewall is 55% of that value (or approximately 100mm).  Probably the easiest way to find this out is to measure it.

    A word of warning, however.  If you depart radically from the suggested tire size, you may end up adversely affecting the handling.  Very wide tires are in vogue these days, but they'll make the bike more difficult to turn.


  2. should be no problem,180 is the width 55 is side wall, your bike should be able to ride on up to a 190 possible a 200 if ya wanted to. the differnet sizes affect the way the bike hadles though.
