  1. toothpaste

  2. The scratch repair stuff you buy in the stores is for very light scratches.  If your scratch is rather deep your better option is to hunt around a bit for a commerical DVD repair shop.  There are outfits that can run a machine that will fix rather deep scratches on disks.  I've had it done to some very badly scratched disks with pretty good results.  Often video rental shops have these machines.  Otherwise, look in the Yellow Pages under DVDs and call around first to get at least three quotes for the cost to determine if the disk is worth repairing versus buying a replacement.  I can't recommend that you use toothpaste; it's for cleaning teeth remember.

  3. You can find dvd and cd scratch remover in any store like wall mart or best buy. Its a cream that you rub into the disck and it lessens the scratch. If its real deep then its not going to help it would be better just to purchase a new dvd. You can always try to copy and reburn to a new disc. This was an option that workd for me for some reason when I had a disc that would not play in my dvd player.
