  1. Historically, China has tightly controlled access to its country.  However, with the Olympics, and the concomitant financial and political gains, they have opened the door much wider for foreign visitors, on a one-time basis, approving many more visas than before.  Once the Olympics are over, they will revert back to issuing fewer, but multiple entry visas.

  2. Bacause of the Olympics, supposely will change in August. At least that's what I was told.

  3. I would give you my boiler-plate answer: "Visa issuance, including cost, is reciprocal."  But this is a bit different.  For the USA, it costs money to interview applicants, one interview per entry. It's much cheaper to issue multi-entry visas for ten years. But I reckon China doesn't care about their costs. And interviewing someone today for entry in a month is one thing.  They will have a *lot* more control if they have to re-interview the same applicant in a few months for another entry.  It's butt-headed, but that's how the Soviets were, too. Just be patient- this wall will fall, too, one day.

  4. because thats there government and we cant do anything about it
