Do avalanches occur more often because of Global Warming?

I need to know because I'm doing a big project on avalanches, and need alot of information.

Please no "Yes" or "No" answers because I need an explanation and evidence for your answer.

global warming has affected all placecs differently. rent al gores "an inconvinient truth" it explains alot. our polar ice caps are melting and b/c the ice is so far apart from one another now, polar bears are now actually drowning. rent that movie, it will explain alot! i had to do a report on this also and it helped alot.

No, the snow that does fall each year may fall less or in a different place. But it accumulates in the same way. So it builds up in layers. And what causes avalanches is differences in the snow pack, when a heavy snow is on top of a light snow it will tend to slide. This will happen no matter where the snow is falling.

Unless you take global warming to the extreme and there is no snow anywhere anymore. This provision is millenia off though.

Probably.

Avalanches most often occur because there is a layer of ice (melted snow) underlying a thick layer of snow.  As the climate warms there is more likelihood of those ice boundaries forming and therefore a higher likelihood of avalanches.

avalanches have always been a winter factor.  global warming won't create more of them, just maybe more show some years.  more snow doesn't mean avalanche, it depends on how much snow packs at once.
