  1. yes everything needs to drink

  2. No, not directly while in the nest.  They get their water from the fresh meat supplied by the parent birds.  The blood in the meat is sufficient for them until they fledge, or leave the nest.  Birds Of Prey, unlike most other birds, do NOT regurgitate food from the parents crop into the waiting mouths of the nestlings.  The adults  bring the kill to the nest, and ripping off pieces of the prey, they feed those fresh pieces to the young.

  3. No, they do not.  I volunteer at the Center for Birds of Prey and we provide water for the birds in our care more for our own benefit than theirs-they get their water intake from the food they eat, not by drinking as we do.

If you have come across a baby hawk, it is EXTREMELY important that you contact the proper authorities.  Not only is it illegal to keep one (even if you found it abandoned or injured), but it needs to be with people that know how to properly care for it to survive.

If you want to contact me by email, click on my profile and I can put you in touch with your nearest raptor center.  Our center offers finders updates on how their bird is doing, and perhaps you could even be present when/if the bird was able to be released back into the wild to see how amazing that is!
