Question:

Do ball pythons push aside aspen substrate for any particular reason?

I've had mine for two months and this is the first time he has. Could he be too hot or cold? The temperature's at 80 and the humidity's at 70.

He shoved it up almost like a wall, but he does have a hide box.

Just kind of confused me...

  1. the temps should be 88-90 on the warm side and 80 on the cool side with himidity between 50 qnd 60... you should also have a hide on both sides of the viv.......my ball python likes to burrow also...and lay in its water bowl..... as long as you get the temps right theres no need to worry!!! good luck with your snake!


  2. Ball Pythons will burrow just below ground in the wild and it is probably just moving the aspen around naturally.  I keep my temps around 85-90 on the hot side and ~76 on the cool side.  I also set humidity at 60 and then raise to 75 during shedding.  Your settings seem to be fine.
