Question:

Do banks look at endorsements?

I have a check made out to me and my mortgage company. Long story short, it will cost me $800 in fees to get them to endorse it, so if I deposit into my bank via ATM, I'm willing to bet with all the automation, nobody will notice the lack of second endorsement. Am I right?

  1. It depends on the amount of the check.  Generally, ATM deposits are scrutinized a bit more thoroughly than through a teller.   Remember though, you may get it deposited in your account but the place that issued the check will most likely check out the endorsement when it is presented for payment.  You need to give that check a lot of time to clear before spending the money.

    Good luck.
