  1. ,,,mm, yes, and they 'sleep' when they are dormant, too.

and they sleep when ever they get tired, or have eaten heavily, or are relaxed and satisfied..  they are like us, they have nap attacks, and snooze attacks, and siesta's,.. they dream too, just like us.

  2. Bears, like humans, sleep several hours each day, the actual amount depending on species and environment.  This is on top of the hibernation that black and grizzly bears do.  Polar bears do not hibernate as they are hunting seals in the winter.

  3. Yes they have a den and they sleep just like all other mammals during the time they are not in hibernation.

  4. yes, hibernation doesn't affect their sleeping patterns.

  5. Not only do they sleep each day, they don't really hibernate. Hibernation involves a big drop in metabolic rate. If bears did this, they would be unable to have cubs in February and nurse them. Bears just become dormant. Some small rodents go into true hibernation as does one bird, the poorwill.
