Do better blades really make for better skating?

Does a higher quality blade make jumping and spinning easier? I'm about to be starting doubles and I'm working on higher level spins. My blades are about $40 total, so they're pretty basic. Would a pair that cost about $100 help my skating or is the quality of skating rest more in the skater than the blade?

  1. price does not matter but quality does matter so ask around try on and you will find a good pair at a good price higher price does not make better skates go to a good store and look around for quality skates for a good price

  2. i don't really know how good a $40 blade versus a $100 dolar blade, so I think the best thing to do is ask your coach. A better blade can make a world of difference in your skating but it might that the blades you have are perfect for your level. So tell your coach about the blades you are considering and he/she will tell you if they will help.

  3. can you slice a steak with a butter knife? Sharper blades makes a difference.

  4. skater.

lighter blades cost more and are easier to move quickly

  5. I would have to say yes. but don't sharpen it too sharp tho

  6. YES!! Mine cost about three hundred dollars. They take a heck a lot of getting used to, but when you do your spins they will be so much faster. Also flying camels will be a breeze.

Probably what your looking for is a blade that is flatter, so you can skate faster, and maybe a cross toe pick (so your toes dont slide on double toes)

Ive got an imitation of the MK gold star (normally 550, i got them for 300), i gotta say the rocker is the hardest thing about breaking them in. ( i mean the way its tapered), but they are great.
