Question:

Do better in school?

I've never been a good student, and I'm concerned. I'm at Shanghai Middle School International Division, and last year, I had terrible grades. i want to improve this. I tried to improve this during the last quarter, and the final results were that I was less of a spaz, I've regained my ability to type and spell correctly, my taste of music widened drastically, I've learned to research something up when I wondered about it, I've learned to think more deeply and not being so biased against things. I also lost all my popularity, gained some weight, became some girls' enemies (while I was formerly one of their friends), and found that I have no particular talents that stood out. My grades still failed. I start school in a week, and I plan to finish all my homework during lunch and start some hobbies at home. I can't help feel like I'll be depressed this year and have no friends, but from what I've seen, friends have brought me nothing but trouble. Help please?

  1. Do not worry about it, it is a myth that you will not do well in life if you don't do well in school. It is really a shame that today the school systems in most countries are more busy comparing students to one another than teaching them useful things and allowing them to explore the world at their own pace.

If you want to do well, however, i suggest finding how to make it interesting for yourself. Find subjects that intrigue you, and go beyond what the teacher asks you to do. This might not give you immediate results, but will pay off greatly in your life.

  2. If that's the case, you need to analyze the group of friends you hang around and weather you can do any better. Do they prevent you from getting passing/good grades? If so then i suggest if possible start hanging around other people who have the same ambition as you, to pass/ get good grades. It may be hard to try to fit into a new group for the first month or so but after you gain some trust and faith in each other you should be right.

  3. well to start off with if your friends have been getting you in trouble they are not friends. if you study harder it would help and also don't sit near people who will talk to you. it is good that you will stay in at lunch and do homework and also if you have spare time study or go to the library and read it will improve your spelling and writing. if you put on weight find some time like in the morning to go for a jog and eat healthy foods like fruit and vegetables. all the work you do, do it to the best off your ability because at least you are trying. try make new friends that you know you will trust

  4. You should put the effort in, when you leave school you'll only regret it.  Forget about your friends I know its easier said than done, but you school work is important, you'll make new friend as you go on through life, you don't sound stupid, don't regret you grades later in life like so many people do.  Take care of yourself, and you appearance that will make you feel better.  Good Luck.
