Do billy goats fight?

I'm thinkin about gettin another male pygmy but just wanted to know if they would fight without other females in the cage.

  1. Yes they will fight even if they are cut(fixed) you will have to keep them apart. I own a lot of goats.

If the goats are neutered, fighting is not a big problem.  Most if not all goats will squabble on a daily basis but true fighting is really not an issue.  I have housed several bucks in pens all year round until breeding season.  My goats are dairy goats and come in season in August.  Pygmy goats breed all year round and since goats are herd animals, they do best if kept with other goat friends. If you have a wether goat, he will definitely enjoy the company of another wether or female and they will probably get along fine with the occasional jousting that goats love to do.

  3. have they had their, um, privates taken care of?  Only if they are "neutered" should you leave them in the pen together.  Otherwise, they will fight, especially if they smell another female (somewhere, anywhere) in heat.  At least one needs to be fixed.
