  1. Hi,

Most birds breed during the summer months but not all some pet budgies etc will come into breeding condition during the winter months when its the australian summer. Its is possible that the chicks and parents will return but its highly unlikely.

  2. The majority of birds become hormonal and  breed in the spring and summer.

Instint tell's birds to breed only when they feel secure and food is plentiful.

Yes, often the parents birds will come back to the same spot and build thier nest for laying egg's year after year.

    Good Question's.

  3. Most birds breed in the spring and summer months.  Birds found in tropical locations can breed all year round.  Yes, birds are very territorial and will usually hold the same territory year after year, so it is very possible the birds nesting in your bird house this year will be back again next year.

  4. Yes, all birds have a breeding season. It is usually during their climate's spring to summer seasons, since that's when food & water are most abundant, and the humidity and temperature is at it's prime for raising temperature/humidity sensitive baby birds.

(Usually starting after the "rainy season," which is early spring) So that by end of summer, their babies are raised and able to care for themselves so they can find mates and migrate with them, if they are migratory.

Most birds do not come back to the exact same nesting spot they used the year before, but most do come back to the same area.  (And by area, I mean state).  You can tell whether a bird uses his nest repeatedly over the years, depending on how he treats his nest.

There are "Shooters" and "Droppers" in the bird world.  "Shooters" are like some Raptors.  They shoot their poo OUT of their nest, to keep it clean since they reuse their nest year after year, whereas "Droppers" the poo will just fall out of their butt, since they re-build their nest every year in a new place, they don't need to maintain strict FDA regulations of hygiene.*

*=That FDA part was a joke.
