Is it worth spending money on blue rays if you don't have a full HD TV like my samsung TV wich shows 720p 1080i.

  1. Your Samsung TV is 720p, which also accepts 1080i signals.  It still only displays 720 lines of resolution.  Thus the 1080i signals are downscaled to 720p, and then de-interlaced.

I'd say yes it's worth it, since it's still a high definition source, though at 720p, nothing is stopping you from either buying an upscaling DVD player.

Upscaled DVDs won't look as nice as their Bluray counterparts, but they'll look good.

Another option is to buy a Bluray player (probably the PS3, since that's the best deal atm).  That way you can buy movies on Bluray, and watch your existing DVD collection.  Bluray players upscale standard DVDs, so you'll have the features of an upscaling player, plus the ability to watch Bluray movies if you decide to start adding them to your collection.
